Blog on: 'Follow the Islamic way to save the world' - Prince Charles urges environmentalists

Today, I was reading this article at Mail Online at URL http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1285332/Follow-Islamic-way-save-world-Charles-urges-environmentalists.html and I looked back to compare it with the Mindanao case.

Did you know that the root cause Ampatuan Massacre was all about environmental protectionism? In fact, the entire war being fought by the MNLF in Mindanao is largely rooted on the cause of the protecting the environment from land grabbing, illegal logging, inappropriate mining, and unsustainable commercialized fishing.

It seems Mindanao is underdeveloped compared to Visayas and Luzon as of the present, but Mindanao can last longer through the trying times of global warming because our Muslim warriors have protected the environment with their lives, which is a great sacrifice of the present generation for the future generation.

Just don't forget that ARMM is a product of the MNLF-GRP Peace Pact of 1976. From 1976-present, the GRP took the obligation of managing ARMM -- pangit ang kinalabasan. Nagpalusot ang GRP, sabi niya may problema daw sa election system dahil corrupted daw. So sabi ng MNLF, "sige ayusin nyo at wala muna election, mag appoint muna kayo para ayusin ninyo, you may use civil society organizations and your LGUs for advocacy support". Mahaba ang pasensya ng MNLF. Kung hindi naman kaya ng GRP na i-manage ang ARMM, sana mag-kusa na siyang mag-bitaw sa ARMM to pave the way for Genuine Autonomy that can only be operated by MNLF.

China's Position on Establishing a New International Political and Economic Order

I like it when China says it believes in (1) Mutual respect of sovereignty, (2) peaceful negotiation of disputes, (3) egalitarianism, (4) respect for cultural diversity, (5) mutual economic cooperation. I am referring to this nice article titled China's Position on Establishing a New International Political and Economic Order from the website of the Chinese Embassy in Manila.

I like it because it is so opposite of the actual foreign policy of the U.S. that I notice such as: (1) American citizenship superiority complex, (2) Useof war machinery to press their interest into other nations, (3) Americanization of all cultures worldwide, and (4) Economic empirialism.

I favor National ID System

National ID System is good for the general population. If you stop the National ID system, you are one with the TraPolitiClans because in that National ID issue, there is only one group that is against it, the group that is composed of TraPolitiClans who cuddle wanted criminals and make them their private armies.

National ID System is the fundamental backbone of the government's information system. In the US, they have US Social Security Number as the backbone since the 1930s, and almost all developed countries have similar system. SS# is assigned at the moment the American child is born. In the Philippines we are still catching up, we are 80 years behind in terms of government information technology development.

Because Philippine has no IT backbone, there is a very high fraud incidence in our country. Without National ID, people can easily acquire multiple fraudulent identities, swindling incidents is high, tax evasion is high, security and credit risks is high, and government transaction is repetitively paperish. Absense of National ID System is the very reason why Philippines is already considered as the most corrupt nation in Asia.

Oppression Causes Insurgency

QUESTION: Sir John, what is the root cause of insurgency? Why is it persistent in Philippines?

ANSWER: They persist because the oppressed people in the rural areas choose to fight back against the private/government armies of the politicians and their cronies who do land grabbing, mining, and logging. They have to protect their lives, land, and environment. Insurgency stops at the moment the oppression stops.

xxxxx

Jacob Yap : Except the Communist they probably wont stop till we have a Communist government, or maybe they just like keep harassing and plundering everyone.

ANSWER: The people should be politically tolerant to non-violent diversity of ideology. Any kind of ideology, once you suppress its power to influence democratic decisions, it results to a longterm protracted armed conflict. So, it is a bad idea to suppress an ideology.

xxxxx

QUESTION: Sir John, what is the difference betwen government and global governance?

ANSWER: Government refers ot public institutions and state-centered systems created by the laws of the nation state. Global governance is the collective actions of government, non-government, trans-government, and even anti-government groups and network of individuals seeking to influence and shape public policy. Insurgents are part of the influential factors in governance and they must not be suppressed.

xxxxx

QUESTION: Sir john, why are you tolerant to the communist? ANSWER: Peace through Political Tolerance and Religious Tolerance are two of my advocacies that I give utmost importance. This advocacy is the very reason why I perfectly fit in the Egalitarian ideology of the MNLF. In MNLF, it takes years and decades before you rise up the ladder of leadership; but in my case because of my naturally perfect alignment of ideology prior to my entry in the MNLF, I was immediately given a high rank entry level.

Mandatory Anti-Corruption Seminar

QUESTION: Sir John, ano ang determinant mo na ang isang government manager or politician ay hindi corrupt?

ANSWER: That is a boring and simple question. The answer is, if he PERSONALLY conducts a lecture on his staff/team about the different kinds of corrupt/irregular practices and gives them a clear instruction on how to report it to proper authorities in case they encounter one.

Do you know someone who meets my criteria/determinant? Wala. That explains how and why corruption persists to become part of the Filipino culture. Hintayin mo (suntok sa buwan sa 2016) pag ako na maging Senador, gagawin kong batas yan na magkakaroon ng MANDATORY Anti-Corruption Video Seminar once every six months ang lahat na government officers, employees, consultant, and contractors.

Democracy is not just tolerance to political chit-chat. Democracy is meeting the aspirations of the people. In the Philippines, Democracy is not achieved at all. As of March 2011, some 20.5 percent of Filipinos or about 4.1 million families are going hungry while 51 percent, or some 10.4 million families, consider themselves poor.

QUESTION: Sir John, did we achieve democracy at the post-marcos era? ANSWER: Not at all. Political and economic power just keep on transfering from the hand of one oligarchy/plutocacy to the hand of another oligarchy/plutocracy. You can't blame media, they are just profiteering. Blame the voters.

xxxxx

QUESTION: Sir John, sometimes I see you as the "Oracle". What do you see if Marcos will be allowed to be burried in Libingan ng mga Bayani? ANSWER: hahahahaha Oracle hahahaha. I see a huge crowd of people behind the coffin, bigger crowd than the Cory and Ninoy combined, people show of frustration on the Post-Marcos economic turmoils, longmarch from Ilocos to Fort Bonifacio. I don't see sufficient media coverage.

xxxxx

QUESTION: Sir John, I read your blog. Can you show evidence that Philippine Government favors the rich and discriminates the poor? ANSWER: Yes I can. Example is DFA Passport section. If you can afford to pay extra, you can get express fast passport service; if you can't afford ehh doon ka sa regular slow service.

xxxxx

QUESTION: Sir John, why is Philippines unsafe? ANSWER: Philippines is a dangerous place. Licensing is corrupted. As a result, drivers are not disciplined. Skepticism grows against real estate agents because of a prevailing nationwide customer dissatisfaction mistrust. The streets is not safe because you don't know who among those people who carry firearm in their cars are psychologically unfit.

xxxxx

QUESTION: Sir John, do you think population size is the cause of economic problem in Philippines? ANSWER: As an economist, I don't believe in using per capita income as economic indicator. In globalization, a country can compete if it can earn much from something it sells outside, whether product or service. The only exportable thing from Philippines is labor and it is based on population size.

xxxxx

QUESTION: Sir John, what is the wisdom behind the postponement of the ARMM Election this August 2011? ANSWER: I already answered that last month. The postponement/appointment is a suggestion that originated from us the MNLF. The purpose is to administratively reboot and reformat a corrupted system and make it ready for a fair and honest campaigning and election in 2013.

xxxxx

QUESTION: Sir John, do you support the Oust Merceditas Gutierrez (OMG)? ANSWER: Jueteng nandyan pa sa PNoy Administration. Red-tape in Professional Regulations Commission nandyan pa sa PNoy Administration. The Administration has to show good faith and sincerity in busting graft and corrupt practices before I support it before we support his plan to puppeteer the office of the Ombudsman.

Reasons Why PNoy Administration Will Fail

QUESTION: Why was Pres. Ramos successful in administering the Philippines and how do you compare him with Pres. Arroyo and Pres. Aquino?

ANSWER: Immediately after Pres. Ramos won the election in 1992, his first 100 days program was courtship to get the support of ALL political parties, he gave all the BEST men and women in politics a position regardless of party. Yung iba binigyan ng appointed position, at yung karamihan ay binigyan ng projects. Pati nga MNLF niligawan nya at na-convince niya si Nur Misuari to sign a Final Peace Agreement in 1996 and take a post in government (ARMM Governor).

The Ramos Administration was the most vibrant democracy ever felt by Philippines, and it gave us 6 years of very fast progress. Yung nga lang medyo na-iwan ang mahihirap sa progress, pero etong katotohanan na eto ay hindi pinag-takpan ng Ramos Administration kaya nanalo si Erap under an Anti-Poverty slogan.

The Arroyo Administration was "insecure" because it knew that it was a power-grab, understandably so it persecuted all its political opponents, she jailed everyone using "invented" cases. As a result the Philippines did not progress because so much government energy was wasted on the negative effect of political disunity. Corruption was also high because Pres. Arroyo has to bribe everyone with corruption money to buy their loyalty.

This Noynoy Aquino Administration now is showing some signs of intellectual and aristocratic arrogance, a typical manners of the elite. The Liberal Party is monopolizing the seats in the Administration. They courted the support of the other political parties but is not giving them relevant and functional positions. The result I am expecting is a "vacuum" wherein we can barely see the best ones in politics playing a relevant role in government.

Ang pinakamalakas na contender ni PNoy ay si Erap. Maraming supporters si Erap at nasa kanya ang mga think-tanks na "experts" and "sincere" sa anti-poverty and anti-corruption. I was supporting Erap, I provided him with advocacy support on his plans and programs.

So, ang most likely na direction nito is we have to accept we made a mistake and wasted time in supporting PNoy, and we have to reunite again with the first group who have always been fighting against the "naghaharing uri".

PNoy is running the government like a private family corporation, hindi vibrant ang democracy. PNoy treats the Presidential Seal as a brand with a reputation to protect at all cost, so he would make palusot (excuses and blaming) for the failures.

xxxxx

QUESTION: Sir John, ano po ang pinaka-reason bakit mag-fail etong PNoy administration on anti-poverty and anti-corruption?

ANSWER: (1) high-profile but low caliber thinktanks ang mga tao niya ngayon, (2) Liberal Party monopoly, (3) Kingly mentality ayaw niya mag reachout ng kamay sa ibang political camps, (4) Plastic ayaw ng corruption pero nandyan pa Jueteng, (5) Publicity-conscious puro palusot and excuses.

PNoy should stop smoking if he wants to use 20-30% more of his brain. "It appears that smokers have an altered opioid flow all the time, when compared with non-smokers, and that smoking a cigarette further alters that flow by 20 to 30 percent in regions of the brain important to emotions and craving." xxxxx

QUESTION: Sir John, who's to blame for the rampant corruption among government employees? Is education a solution?

ANSWER: Lack of ethics education of government employees and professionals can be blamed on Civil Service Commission and Professional Regulatory Commission.

xxxxx

QUESTION: Sir John, Malacanang open to increase the amount of fuel subsidy to jeepneys and tricycles. What can you say about this?

ANSWER: That means government excessively collects VAT from petroleum and it robs the private cars while it spared the jeepney and tricycle drivers.

Subsidies and Dole Outs - Arroyo versus Aquino

Arroyo and Aquino, both of them used Subsidies (aka Dole Outs) as a fastest strategy of intervention in the market. Arroyo subsides were for the purpose of preventing inflation, money injected in a utility widely used by the general public, hence benefit was "economically" appreciated. Aquino subsidies are for the purpose of preventing hunger, injecting money directly to households with specific conditions, hence benefis is "politically" appreciated.

In my standard, both of them failed the rationality test of subsidies.

My rationality test is simple. Subsidies must (1) be efficiently managed, (2) be conditionally spent only in safe investment, (3) be demand driven, and (4) perk-up the vibrancy of the domestic market.

For me, subsidy funds can possibly be efficiently managed by banks to be conditionally invested solely in creating new businesses. The ideal target business I have in mind are those that are feasible for franchise expansion of small yet thriving companies.

Franchising is a safe investment because the supervision of new shops is an automatic concern of the mother company. If you ask the proor on what they want to alleviate their condition, they always say thay want JOBS; franshising creates new jobs, therefore it is demand-driven. Franchising promotes market vibrancy because it helps locally produced commodities reach all possible corners of the demanding domestic market.

No democracy in the Philippines

QUESTION: Sir John, I am homeschooling. Ask ulit ako for my assignment. Ano po yang tinatawag na "People Empowerment"? Yan ba yung Democracy na malaya lahat pwede magsalita?

ANSWER: Partly yes. There is a fake democracy and genuine democracy. You would know the difference by looking at the manifestations. In democracy, people are not only given the freedom to voice what they want, but people are given the opportunities to achieve what they want. The highest form of democracy and people empowerment is one wherein peoples' PURCHASING POWER is empowered, wherein people can make brave choices on what to buy, who to vote for, who to live with, where to go.

Philippine democracy is fake because there is no democracy who wants to be impoverished. The democracy is demanding fairness of opportunities and survival from poverty, but democracy is not getting it.

Allowing people to voice their sentiments just for the sake of allowing them to ventilate the pressure, without actually accepting their sentiment, is a form of suppression, it is not democracy.

Look at the manifestations. There is no democracy when people are generally dissatisfied with the integrity of the government. There is no democracy when people are suffering and dying everyday from poverty. There is no democracy when the military and police are threats to society because they are trained/initiated in an inhumane ways of maltreatment, hazing, and torture. There is no democracy when people are afraid of losing their jobs if they report irregularies done by their superiors. There is no democracy when government keeps opponent ideologists as political prisoners. Applying this, I can say that in Philippines, there is no democracy yet. Philippines has always been an Oligarchy and Plutocracy, never been a democracy.

Economist defends Philippines 'large population'

xxxxxxxx

Look at this article below published in the Sun.Star Pampanga newspaper on April 05, 2011. URL http://www.sunstar.com.ph/pampanga/local-news/2011/04/04/economist-defends-philippines-large-population-148687

CLARK FREEPORT -- Economist Bernie Villegas defended Monday the country's current population, saying a large populace is an asset and not a liability to a developing country like the Philippines.

Villegas issued the statement before members of the Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PamCham) amid the ongoing debate on Reproductive Health (RH) bill.

He said that from an economic viewpoint, a large population works wonders for the local market.

This same population advantage, he added, was demonstrated in the recent world financial crisis in which Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines (the VIP countries of the Asean) were virtually unaffected.

"A key explanation for the resilience of these three countries is their large domestic markets that partly insulated them from the depressive impact of a shrinking world economy," Villegas said.

He added that in the next 10 to 20 years, countries with large populations such as China, India, Brazil, Indonesia and others will be the engines of growth, eclipsing the aging market power countries that, with the exception of the United States, are all suffering from the devastating effects of the demographic winter.

Villegas said legislations like the RH bill could be economically counterproductive.

"Another strong argument against population control is the peculiar case of Thailand. Even rescinding from the ongoing political unrest, Thailand's still relatively large population of over 60 million did not enable it to get into the list of the Next Eleven emerging markets that will dominate the global economy. Because of a very aggressive population control program in the last century, Thailand is in serious danger of growing old before becoming rich," Villegas added.

He also urged businessmen in the province to instead focus on helping the government in really addressing the problem of poverty.

He said there have been tried and tested approaches to address the issue in an agricultural country like the Philippines.

Among them, he said, are building farm-to-market roads, irrigation systems and post-harvest facilities; providing micro credit to the poor; developing small and medium-scale enterprises; putting up vocational and technical schools for the out-of-school youth; financing social housing for the poor; and teaming up with the private sector to assist returning overseas Filipino workers in starting sustainable small businesses in which they can invest their savings.

xxxxxxxxxx

Six months prior to the Villegas publication, I wrote a blog below that also says almost the same thing. I am an economist too, like Villegas.

Wealth from Labor Exportation
10/2/2010
By: John Remollo Petalcorin (Blogger)

Population is not our problem. High fertility rate is our competitive advantage. We just have to keep on improving their skills though education and keep our local inventory of labor low by facilitating their smooth movement to other nations who need economically productive population.

The fertility rate of the developed countries are having a downward patern. Their dependency on imported labor is getting higher, in fact they have already put in place some measures for whole-family immigration packages -- even the US who is considered as the nation with tightest domestic labor protection policy.

Land, Labor, Capital -- the three elements of production. Every nation has to have something valuable element to export in huge volume in order to become wealthy domestically.

US have many exports like Coke, Microsoft, Capital, etc.

Middle East have Oil and Capital.

Japan have cars.

The only possible exportable element the Philippines can derive wealth from is Skilled Labor, and we are naturally endowed with it. We just have to RECOGNIZE it as a blessing from God and make sure that we get WEALTHY from it.

The only way to create local jobs is to create industries here domestically. Aside from the fact that Filipinos are not educated and acultured to become industrialists, when you talk about industry, it comes along with environmental issues. Land-size-wise, we are just a "dot" compared to other nations. One small industry has big negative effects on our small land.
